There are 4 public beach accesses, one located off the Pope Ave traffic circle as well as 3 at mid island. Water temperatures varying from a low of 50 in January to a high of 85 in July and August.

 

     
Climate  –  The climate on Hilton Head is semi-tropical with enough seasonal changes to make things interesting. Temperatures in the 70’s in December are not uncommon and comfortable outdoor weather is available year-round. Overall, the year-round average of midday and evening temperatures are 75 and 55 degrees, respectively. The average maximum temperatures varies from 59 in January to 89 in July and August.

 

     

REAL ESTATE TAX

The County tax assessor places an appraised value on your real estate, based upon comparable sales, the property’s condition, etc. This appraised value is then multiplied by 4% for residents (6% for non-residents and corporations), to determine the “assessed value” of a property. The assessed value is then multiplied by the millage rate for your district. Residents that qualify for the 4% tax ratio are exempt from taxes imposed for school operating expenses. A $100,000 home, for example, has an assessed value of $4,000 ($100,000 x 4%). That $4,000 is then multiplied by the current millage rate, using Hilton Head’s District 550 is .0935. The tax for that home would be $374.00.
